Short answers to the things people ask most. Still stuck? Email us at support@groundbudget.com.
Ground is a personal finance app that helps you see what’s actually safe to spend after bills, track recurring bills and debts, set goals, and build calmer money habits. It’s designed to be simple and low-stress — especially if budgeting usually feels overwhelming.
New accounts get a 14-day free trial with everything unlocked. No credit card is needed to start. After that, manual tracking stays free; bank sync and Ask Ground require a subscription. The first 100 annual subscribers can lock in $39/year. After those spots are filled, the price is $59/year or $7/month. You can cancel anytime and keep access through the end of your billing period.
Yes. You can add expenses, bills, goals, and debts by hand for free — connecting a bank just automates the transaction entry. Manual entry is always available, including a quick-add and a voice/AI “just type it” option.
Bank connections are handled by Plaid, the same service used by many major finance apps. Your bank login is entered directly with Plaid — Ground never sees or stores your bank username or password. The connection is read-only: we can read transactions and balances to show them to you, but we can never move money.
Your data is stored with Google Firebase and encrypted at rest. Your bank access token is kept server-side only and is never readable by the app in your browser. We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
No. Ground is an informational budgeting tool. Nothing in the app, including Ask Ground, spending suggestions, or budget recommendations — is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. For major financial decisions, please consult a qualified professional.
Ask Ground can answer questions about your own numbers and suggest budgets or plans based on your spending. It can also draft changes (like adding a bill), but you confirm anything before it’s applied. It’s a helper, not a licensed advisor. Treat its suggestions as a starting point, not a recommendation to act on.
Partner mode lets you link with another person — a spouse, partner, or anyone you share money with — so you both see and manage the same expenses, bills, goals, budgets, and debts. One subscription covers both linked accounts. A few things stay private to each person, like your notification preferences. You can leave a partner account at any time, and your data is copied back to your personal account.
Most U.S. banks and credit unions are supported through Plaid, including major national banks and many smaller institutions. If your bank isn’t available, you can still track everything manually.
Cancel anytime from Settings (or your billing portal). You’ll keep full access through the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and you’re never charged again after that. Your data stays put and manual tracking keeps working.
You can delete your account from Settings. Deletion is a 30-day soft delete first — if you change your mind, you can restore it within that window — after which your data is permanently removed.
Not yet. Ground is currently available to U.S. residents 18 and older.
