These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Ground ("the Service"), a personal finance app operated by GroundBudget.com. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Ground.
You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States to use Ground. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements. Ground is not available outside the United States at this time.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree not to share your password or allow others to access your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@groundbudget.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
Free account and optional trial: New accounts begin on Ground Free. Eligible users may choose to start a 14-day Premium trial with full access to Premium features. No credit card is required. Ground may offer one-time trial extensions, short grace periods, or referral bonuses to eligible accounts. These offers do not start paid billing and may be limited, changed, or withdrawn if they are misused.
Paid plans: After your trial, continued access to bank sync and unlimited Ask Ground requires a paid subscription. Ground Free includes a limited Ask Ground allowance, currently 5 messages per rolling 7-day period. New annual subscribers who subscribe by August 31, 2026 can lock in the $39/year promotional price while their subscription remains active. Beginning September 1, 2026, new annual subscriptions are $59/year. The monthly plan is $7/month. Prices are subject to change with 30 days' notice.
Billing: Subscriptions are billed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. You can cancel at any time from your account settings.
Refunds: Subscription payments are non-refundable except where required by law. If you cancel, you retain access through the end of your billing period.
Partners: A single subscription covers both accounts in a linked partner account. The subscribing partner's plan is shared with their linked partner for the duration of the subscription.
Referrals and promotions: Referral links and promotion codes are intended for genuine new customers. Self-referrals, duplicate accounts, automated signups, resale, and other attempts to manufacture rewards are not allowed. Ground may withhold or reverse an improperly earned reward.
Ground is a personal finance tool, not a licensed financial advisor, broker, or credit counselor. Nothing in the app, including Ask Ground, spending suggestions, budget recommendations, or any other output, constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. All information is provided for general informational purposes only.
You should not rely on Ground to make major financial decisions. For advice specific to your situation, consult a licensed financial advisor, CPA, or attorney.
Ask Ground uses language models provided by Anthropic, PBC that may occasionally produce inaccurate or incomplete information. Always verify important financial information independently.
Ground uses Plaid Technologies, Inc. ("Plaid") to connect to your financial institution. By connecting your bank, you authorize Ground and Plaid to retrieve your account and transaction data. Your banking credentials go directly to Plaid — Ground never sees or stores your username or password.
Your use of Plaid is subject to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy. You can disconnect your bank from Settings. Ground will revoke its Plaid Item access and stop future updates while preserving already imported Ground records until you edit or delete them.

You own your financial data. We store and process it solely to provide the Service. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your information.
Ground's operator has administrative access to user data for support and operations purposes. This access is protected by two-factor authentication and strict access controls. We do not browse user financial data except when necessary to resolve a support issue you raise.
If you link a household account with a partner, you consent to sharing your expenses, bills, budgets, goals, debts, and account balance with that partner. Both partners can view and modify shared household data.
You may delete your account from Settings or request deletion by emailing support@groundbudget.com. Account deletion cancels active Ground subscriptions, revokes Ground's Plaid access, removes Ground's active records and associated recovery snapshots, and closes the sign-in account. With scheduled deletion, Plaid access and subscription billing stop immediately while saved Ground data remains recoverable until the date displayed in the app. Restoring saved data does not automatically reconnect Plaid or restart a subscription.
Ground and all its content, features, and functionality are owned by GroundBudget.com and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without our express written permission.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES. FINANCIAL DATA SHOWN IN THE APP IS BASED ON INFORMATION YOU AND YOUR BANK PROVIDE — WE MAKE NO GUARANTEE OF ITS ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GROUNDBUDGET.COM SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO FINANCIAL LOSSES, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF PROFITS — EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 4, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction. You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis — not as part of a class action.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the app or emailing your registered address. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
